Ox Car Care's Diamond Plan: Comprehensive Benefits
Published: June 16th, 2023
Ox Car Care is an auto warranty company that offers a variety of plans to fit your needs and budget. Their extended warranties fall into three categories, the highest of which is the Diamond plan category. This plan covers everything the other plans do but adds coverage for most of the higher technology parts in today’s newer cars.
All of the company’s plans cover a wide range of components and repairs, including engine, transmission, electrical, and mechanical. The company also offers a variety of features, such as low deductibles, long warranty terms, and nationwide coverage. In addition to their parts coverage, Ox Car Care offers unique perks such as tire rotations, oil changes, and tire road hazard reimbursement. They will also reimburse you, up to a point, for rental car expenses while you await your repairs.
They advertise three levels of plans on their website: Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Their plans have variable costs based on you and your vehicle’s criteria and requirements, but there are differences in what they cover. So what should you choose if you’re looking for the best coverage for a newer car? In that case, you would choose the Diamond plan, their most comprehensive policy for a large variety of vehicles and the largest number of parts. Read on to find out more about the Diamond plan at Ox Car Care.

What Does the Diamond Plan Cover?
The Diamond plan is the most comprehensive auto warranty policy the company offers, as it provides coverage for a wide range of repairs and services for your vehicle. It offers protection for major parts like your engine and transmission, as well as the “high-tech” parts found in many of the newer car models today. You might call it Ox Car Care’s “bumper-to-bumper” warranty.
It might be useful for you to know exactly what parts the lesser plans cover, that are also covered by the Diamond plan. The Gold plan, their lowest advertised policy, is similar to a powertrain warranty and covers essential powertrain components like the rotary engine, transmission, transfer case, drive axle, and seals and gaskets. It also offers limited reimbursement for tires damaged by road hazards, as well as 24-hour roadside assistance and towing. The Platinum plan covers all components included in Gold, in addition to air conditioning, steering, brakes, fuel systems, cooling systems, and base electrical components.
The Diamond plan expands on all of the above by also covering the suspension, high-tech electrical components, anti-lock brakes, as well as hybrid vehicle parts.
There are some optional add-ons to your policy that you may choose after paying a surcharge, as well. These are the Ride Share option, which allows you to use your car as an Uber or Lyft, and the Modification option, which covers you after altering vehicle height, emissions controls, fuel efficiency, and so on. We think these bring an enticing value because not all warranty providers allow them.
What does it not cover?
You might think that opting for the highest level plan would cover you for everything under the sun, but you should be aware of the exclusions and limitations of all plans at Ox Car Care. First and foremost, be aware that you may only file a claim 30 days from the date of purchase and 1,000 additional miles from the starting odometer, so do not expect to get full coverage from day one. Also, once you need repairs, you have 60 days to file a claim, or they will not cover them.
Generally, pre-existing conditions or manufacturer’s defects are excluded from coverage. So, for example, do not take out an extended warranty on your 2018 Traverse truck only after you find it has a transmission issue, because Ox Car Care will deny that claim. As for manufacturer defects, you should contact your manufacturer or dealer to address those repairs, and find out if there is a factory recall that you should take advantage of.
They do not cover filter changes, fluid refills, or motor tune-ups unless necessary for an approved repair, but they do require you to maintain your car as stipulated by the manufacturer. And while you do receive 24/7 roadside assistance and towing services, these are limited to three services per year, and they may stipulate that the towing be to the “closest qualified place of repair.”
Finally, you will only be covered for a maximum of $7,500.00 or the "cash value" of your vehicle with this plan, whichever is less. Ox Car Care does provide full sample contracts on their website for you to peruse. Be sure to look through them and read all the fine print so that you know what’s covered and what’s excluded.
What Kind of Vehicle Could Benefit From the Diamond Plan?
Ox Car Care touts this plan as “the ideal protection for newer vehicles.” You might think this is true because it is their highest tier and most expensive plan, so it makes sense they’d market it towards owners of more expensive vehicles. And you wouldn’t necessarily be wrong, but it’s not the whole story.
There are many components in newer cars that were not common in cars ten or more years ago. These include advanced driver-assistance features, microchips that control navigation and window motors, and control and infotainment modules, among other “high-tech” electrical components. All of these parts will only be covered with your Diamond plan, but you should ask the salesperson to list any exclusions when calling for a quote.
We have also seen a greater adoption of hybrid cars and electric vehicles (EVs). The Diamond plan is the only one at Ox Car Care that lists hybrid electronics as being covered, such as the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) control unit of battery electronics, the IMA control unit for motor electronics, junction board assembly, Power Drive Unit (PDU) converter (AC-DC), and other parts. While they don’t explicitly state it, similar EV components should be covered under this plan as well.
How Does the Diamond Plan Compare?
The Diamond plan from Ox Car Care does compare well to the top plans from other auto warranty providers. It offers similar competitive coverage perks to Endurance, Carchex, and Carshield, for example, although some of those competitors will offer a higher number of plans for you to choose from. Also note that some of the high-tech parts will be covered under higher plan tiers at other companies, such as hybrid parts at Endurance. Of course, the premiums will reflect that coverage, and Ox Car Care prides itself on being a budget option.
In our research, we were not able to find specific monthly pricing information for Ox Car Care. They are quote-based, as are many of their competitors, so you have to submit a quote request online, and they will call you to discuss monthly costs, among other things. In our research, we found that premiums for the Platinum plans started at around $120 a month, but for Diamond, the costs can be over $200 a month. In fact, we found they could reach more than $250/month, depending on factors like the age and type of vehicle, its make and model, mileage, the length of the contract you sign, and so on.
A three-year-old Acura sedan, for example, can be covered for $220 a month on a 4-year term. Of course, you may be able to negotiate a better price with the salesperson based on your unique circumstances. The deductible is usually set at $100 per claim, but we understand that it could vary— up to $250 per claim. Be prepared to pay a downpayment of $49-$75 when signing.
Can I Benefit From the Diamond Plan?
The Diamond plan from Ox Car Care offers a range of benefits that make it the most complete auto warranty solution at the company. It provides comprehensive coverage for most of your vehicle’s parts, including the engine, transmission, A/C, suspension, high-tech electrical, and anti-lock brakes, as well as many other components. The plan also includes the perks available on all the company’s plans, like roadside assistance, rental car coverage, and towing benefits, giving you peace of mind on the road.
It compares very well in coverage to other leading auto warranty providers’ top offerings. And while it might get pricey, it may still be more affordable than its competitors. Therefore, do your comparison research carefully and consider Ox Car Care’s Diamond plan if you want coverage for your newer car.
