Once the eggs hatch, the larvae burrow into the tissue, creating painful and potentially life-threatening infestations if left untreated.</p>

<p>Livestock are the parasite's primary target, but wildlife, pets, and even humans can occasionally be affected. Health experts stress that the parasite is mainly an animal health issue and does not contaminate beef products entering the food supply.</p>

<p>For much of the twentieth century, the screwworm was one of the most destructive pests facing ranchers across the southern United States. The parasite caused widespread livestock losses before a massive eradication campaign successfully eliminated it from the country. The effort relied heavily on releasing millions of sterile male flies that could mate with wild females but produce no offspring, gradually collapsing local populations.</p>

<p>That same strategy remains at the center of today's response. <a href="https://www.aphis.usda.gov/animals/animal-health/livestock-and-poultry-disease/stop-screwworm">The U.S. Department of Agriculture</a> has established a quarantine zone around the affected area and increased surveillance efforts throughout South Texas. Officials are deploying additional traps, expanding inspections, and coordinating with state agencies to monitor livestock and wildlife for signs of new infestations.</p>

<p>The Texas case did not emerge without warning. Over the past year, detections in Mexico have steadily moved north toward the U.S. border. Just days before the Texas discovery, federal officials reported a screwworm case in Mexico's Coahuila state, only about 25 miles from the border. The proximity raised concerns that the parasite could eventually cross into the United States despite ongoing containment efforts.</p>

<p>Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said federal and state agencies are responding aggressively to prevent further spread. The USDA has also been investing in long-term defenses, including plans for a new sterile fly production facility in Texas that would strengthen the country's ability to respond to future outbreaks.</p>

<p>Industry groups have warned that a larger outbreak could carry serious economic consequences. Texas alone is home to more cattle than any other state, and restrictions on livestock movement, treatment costs, and animal losses could create challenges for ranchers throughout the region. Some experts have estimated that an uncontrolled outbreak could cause billions of dollars in economic damage.</p>

<p>For now, officials are treating the Texas detection as an isolated case. Whether it remains one will depend on how effective current containment measures prove to be in the weeks ahead.</p>

After a natural disaster affected a tier-two supplier&rsquo;s manufacturing plant, the tier-one supplier used a different base material in the printed circuit board. <p>Honda and Acura dealers will replace the front passenger seat weight sensor with a non-defective part at no cost. The replacement sensor uses a printed circuit board made with the original verified base material.</p>

<p>Dealer notifications began around May 22, 2026. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed starting July 6, 2026.</p>

Dell launched a redesigned XPS 14 ($2,049.99) and XPS 16 ($2,199.99) at the high end and pledged to deliver products "at every price point." This $699 launch is that promise kept.&nbsp;</p>

<h3>What you get for the money</h3>

<p>This is the thinnest and lightest XPS 13 Dell has ever shipped, at 12.7mm thick and just under 1kg. The CNC-machined aluminum body comes in two colors, Sky at launch and Storm later in the summer. The rest of the sheet is genuinely strong for the price:</p>

<p>US availability begins in June, with the higher-end configuration following later in the season.</p>

<h3>Where it beats the MacBook Neo</h3>

<p>Dell is not being subtle about the comparison, and the spec gap is real. Apple's $599 MacBook Neo ships without a touchscreen, without a backlit keyboard, with only one fast USB-C port, and with no face unlock on the base model. The Dell XPS 13 answers every one of those: a sharper touch panel, lit keys, two quicker ports, Windows Hello, and four speakers instead of two. It is also lighter and carries a bigger battery.</p>

<p>Apple still has cards to play. The Neo costs $100 less at every tier, runs macOS, stays completely silent with its fanless design, and keeps a headphone jack that Dell dropped. So the choice comes down to what you value rather than which one is flatly better.</p>

<h3>The catch worth knowing</h3>

<p>Two things to flag before you get excited. The base model is not a Copilot+ PC, since its chip falls short of the AI performance bar Microsoft set, so the on-device AI features only arrive with the pricier Core Ultra version. There is also no OLED option and no headphone jack, and the entry RAM is a modest 8GB. None of that sinks the laptop, but it does explain how Dell hit such an aggressive price.</p>

<p>For a line that launched near $1,300 just two years ago, a $699 starting point is a serious shift, and it makes the XPS 13 one of the strongest budget Windows laptops to watch in 2026.</p>
