Kodak&rsquo;s rise began with George Eastman in the late 1800s. He transformed photography from a complicated process into something ordinary people could enjoy. The Kodak camera, introduced in 1888, came preloaded with film and a promise: &ldquo;You press the button, we do the rest.&rdquo;

Through the 20th century, their cameras captured weddings, vacations, and world events. The Brownie camera of 1900 made photography affordable to nearly everyone, and by the 1970s, they commanded more than 80% of the U.S. film market. If the pension plan payout comes through as expected, they believe they could be nearly debt-free by the end of 2025.

However, even if their debt plan works, a larger question looms: how can they remain relevant in an era where artificial intelligence rapidly changes how people create and consume images?&nbsp;

AI-powered tools can now generate lifelike photographs without a camera, alter pictures instantly, and mimic film aesthetics with startling accuracy.&nbsp;

These bots, powered by GPT-4o mini, mimicked human behavior in five separate simulations, each involving 10,000 interactions. Despite the lack of algorithmic nudging, they naturally gravitated toward bots with similar political leanings. Bots posting highly partisan content ended up gaining more followers and more reposts, showing that ideological alignment alone was enough to fuel engagement and division.

Researchers attempted to curb this behavior using methods often proposed as fixes for polarization: chronological feeds, removing follower counts, hiding repost metrics, and even boosting exposure to opposing viewpoints. None of these methods produced a meaningful shift. Most interventions only reduced partisan clustering by less than 6%. In some cases, like when user bios were hidden, the divide actually grew worse.

The findings raise uncomfortable questions. If bots trained on human data recreate our tribal tendencies even in neutral environments, it suggests that the core problem may be us, not just the platforms we use. Social media may not create division, but it amplifies what&rsquo;s already there.

This, however, makes sense. Historically, humans have consistently prioritized being part of a community for shelter and safety. Back then, not being part of a community simply meant death. This aspect might have stuck around with us until today because most people seek to be part of a community and be included in a certain topic.&nbsp;

Although this research shows that humans might be a little too comfortable in echo chambers, that feels like an oversimplification. In my experience, people tend to follow political figures to either solidify their confidence in the position they&rsquo;ve decided to take or to arm themselves with arguments for conversations with the other side. Following a partisan figure doesn&rsquo;t always mean someone is avoiding the other side; it could mean they&rsquo;re preparing to engage with it. That&rsquo;s often how opinions shift over time.

That repeated timestamp of 2:17 is more than just a plot device. Cregger has explained that it&rsquo;s a direct nod to Stephen King&rsquo;s The Shining. In the novel, Room 217 is where Danny experiences one of his most haunting encounters. While Stanley Kubrick&rsquo;s film adaptation famously changed the number to 237, Cregger opted to stick with the source material&rsquo;s original number. He admitted the influence was subconscious but undeniable, noting that although he&rsquo;s a Kubrick devotee, he ultimately decided to keep his first instinct rather than alter it for the sake of homage.

Additionally, Cregger explained one of Weapon's eeriest visuals: the children's rigid, arms-extended, running posture. No storyline feels like filler; each perspective contributes something integral to solving the central mystery of the missing children. It&rsquo;s a clever narrative strategy that keeps the film cohesive even as it jumps between characters, and it meant I never felt like anyone&rsquo;s segment was secondary or disposable.

Finally, I think Weapons sticks the landing. The ending wraps up the core story without tying everything in a perfect bow; there are enough answers to satisfy, yet a few lingering questions remain. As one reviewer noted, the climax sheds light without &ldquo;illuminating the whole picture.&rdquo; That balance felt just right to me. I walked out satisfied with how the story resolved, while still having a couple of eerie ideas to ponder afterward.
