Amazon is in talks to acquire Decart, an Israeli-founded AI infrastructure startup, for roughly $7 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday. A deal could be signed soon, though the negotiations could still fall apart, and neither company has publicly confirmed an agreement.

A purchase at that price would rank among Amazon’s largest acquisitions in recent years and close out one of the most closely watched startup sales of 2026.

Decart has been on the market for much of the year. Nvidia was the first to pursue an acquisition before Anthropic emerged as the preferred bidder in August, in a deal expected to value the startup at around $6 billion to $7 billion. Anthropic walked away in September after completing due diligence, leaving Decart to look for another buyer. Its reasons for pulling out haven’t been made public.

Amazon and Decart already have a working relationship. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a strategic customer of the startup and gave Decart early access to its Trainium3 AI chip in 2025 after being impressed by its founders.

Decart builds software that helps AI models run more efficiently and move easily between chips from different manufacturers. Companies using it can get more computing power out of the hardware they already own, which matters a lot as AI infrastructure costs climb and much of the industry looks for alternatives to Nvidia’s dominant accelerators.

Amazon has been working on the same problem from the hardware side, developing its own Trainium chips as an alternative to Nvidia. Software that lets customers run models smoothly across different processors could make AWS a more attractive cloud platform, and buying Decart outright would give Amazon direct control over technology that has already been tested inside its own computing ecosystem.

Brothers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf founded Decart with Moshe Shalev in 2023. Alongside its infrastructure work, the startup develops AI systems that generate interactive environments and video in real time. Its products include Lucy, which edits video in real time, and Oasis, a model that generates simulated environments. Oasis first drew international attention as a game that creates video on the fly as people play it.

Decart raised $300 million in May at a valuation of about $4 billion in a round led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia also participating, so the reported price is roughly 75% higher just five months later. The company has raised approximately $450 million in total, though its commercial business is still far smaller than the valuation being discussed.
