Jaguar Type 01 Revealed With Over 1,000 Horsepower

Jaguar’s next chapter arrives with three electric motors, more than 1,000 horsepower, and a design that makes few concessions to convention. Unveiled in New York on October 6, the new Type 01 is an all-electric, four-door grand tourer that introduces the brand’s next generation of luxury vehicles. Jaguar describes it as their most powerful and aerodynamic production road car yet.
The reveal moves Jaguar’s electric relaunch from design statements to a production-bound vehicle. Alongside its appearance, the company has now detailed the powertrain, battery, charging capabilities, cabin technology, and expected arrival schedule.

Three Motors & Serious Performance
The Type 01 uses a dedicated platform called Jaguar Electric Architecture, or JEA. Its three-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain produces up to 1,030 PS, equivalent to approximately 1,015 horsepower, and 1,365 Nm of torque, or about. Jaguar quotes a 0–60 mph time of 3.1 seconds.
Intelligent torque vectoring distributes power where needed, while all-wheel steering supports maneuverability and stability. Four-corner air suspension, switchable-volume air springs, and twin-valve active dampers aim to balance ride comfort with control. The car also has a low center of gravity and an even 50/50 weight distribution.
Battery, Range & Charging
An 118-kWh usable battery and 850-volt electrical architecture underpin the Type 01’s long-distance ambitions. Jaguar estimates up to 400 miles of range under the U.S. EPA testing framework and up to 450 miles under Europe’s WLTP procedure. The company also estimates up to 320 miles when cruising continuously at 75 mph.
With a suitable 350-kW DC fast charger, Jaguar says the car can add up to 200 miles of range in 13 minutes. Charging from 10% to 80% takes as little as 22 minutes. Charging ports on both sides provide easier access, while connected navigation plans charge at stops. Actual charging speeds depend on battery temperature, charge level, and the equipment available.
A Distinctive Exterior & Four-Seat Cabin
The exterior combines a long hood, low roofline, short front overhang, and extended rear overhang. Active aerodynamic vanes and a three-stage deployable spoiler help achieve a drag coefficient of 0.23. Jaguar showcases 23-inch wheels, with a 21-inch all-season option also listed. Slim LED headlights and full-width rear lighting complete the design.
Inside, a brass-effect central spine divides the cabin into four individual seating spaces. A 24-inch OLED display combines instrumentation and infotainment, supported by a separate seven-inch control screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, a 5G hotspot, and remote software updates form part of the technology package.
A Meridian-powered panoramic soundbar, sensory audio, front-seat massage, and active road-noise cancellation emphasize comfort. The Type 01 has no rear window. Instead, a ClearSight camera display provides the rear view, while a 3D surround camera helps with parking and maneuvering. Combined load space exceeds 450 liters, and the rear seats tilt forward for larger items.
Price & Launch Schedule
Jaguar expects orders to open in early 2027, with first deliveries anticipated in the second half of that year. U.S. pricing is expected to start at around $130,000, while announced UK pricing starts at £130,000. Production will take place in Solihull, England, with battery packs and electric drive units manufactured in Wolverhampton.
The Type 01 establishes Jaguar’s new direction with substantial performance and a clear focus on luxury. Independent testing will determine how closely its driving experience, range, and charging performance match those promises.
