Buyer Beware: AA Auto Protection Exhibits Suspicious Behavior
In researching AA Auto Protection, we uncovered a rather concerning picture. This company once operated as a broker that helped you find appropriate coverage with third-party vehicle service contract (VSC) administrators like United Car Care, Royal Administration Service, DOWC, Matrix Warranty Solution, and National Warranty Administration. However, there’s been a lot of evidence that leads us to believe they are no longer operating legitimately, if they do at all.
AA Auto Protect is said to have been founded in 1989, with headquarters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) states that their mailed correspondences with the company at that address were returned to the BBB as non-deliverable. They had been trying to get in contact with AA Auto Protection because of a pattern of complaints on BBB’s site that allege that the company does not send cancelation refunds, which is why they are not BBB-accredited and have a D- rating. They also have a poor Trustpilot review score of 1.4/5 from over 200 reviews.
Aside from not sending the appropriate full or prorated refunds, other recent complaints against this provider have to do with them not fulfilling their obligations for applicable repair claims, often for the full covered amount. Some customers report being unable to connect to the customer service line, which might be disconnected.
Other complaints have to do with sales representatives claiming to be from the company calling car owners incessantly, sometimes from different numbers. When those consumers provide them with personal and credit card details, they report being charged without consent or potentially having their identities stolen. One reported being redirected via text message to a website that does not bear this company’s name. It should be noted that AA Auto Protection’s website does not load up, and there are reports dating back to the first half of 2021 of it not functioning then either.
AA Auto Protect has not replied to any customer complaints on BBB at all, whether to justify their service decisions or work towards better customer satisfaction. They used to reply selectively to Trustpilot reviews, but the last instance of that is from 2017. There has actually not been any customer feedback regarding this company for just over a year, and we cannot determine whether they are out of business or bankrupt because there have been no press releases issued. We tried getting in touch with company personnel online to inquire about their working status but have not received a reply.
As of this moment, we cannot update our information about this warranty provider, nor can we recommend this company. We recommend you not answer any sales calls from them and decline their services if you do speak with them. Whether the calls are from AA Auto Protect or someone posing as them, those individuals do not seem to be operating honestly and show signs of being a scam.
If you’re looking to cover your car, there are many reputable extended car warranty companies that you may choose from— companies like Endurance, CARCHEX, and Olive. About AA Auto Protection
AA Auto Protection is a broker, which means they help you find a car warranty provider that fits what you’re looking for. To that end, they have partnered with United Car Care, Royal Administration Service, DOWC, Matrix Warranty Solution, and the National Warranty Administration.
AA Auto Protection has been in business since 1989 but is not the best-rated company in the industry. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has not accredited them, and they give them a D- rating. They also posted an alert about this extended auto warranty provider, as they have constant complaints about failing to refund their customers after cancellations.
AA Auto Protection Coverage
This extended auto warranty provider effectively offers you 39 different policy options from their many partner VSC administrators. These options generally fall into five plan levels, allowing you to flexibly choose which vehicle parts you want to be covered. The plan levels are as follows:
Coverage level | Number of plans available | What is included |
---|---|---|
Full coverage | 7 | This is an exclusionary plan; all parts are covered except the ones excluded in the contract |
Premium stated component coverage | 9 | It is a comprehensive extended service contract for vehicles that cannot get exclusionary coverage |
Stated component coverage | 10 | Covers most major parts of the vehicle, with the contract stating precisely what parts are covered |
Premium powertrain plus coverage | 7 | It covers the engine, transmission, water pump, drivetrain, and alternator |
Premium Powertrain coverage | 6 | This is the basic plan that covers the engine, transmission, and drivetrain |
AA Auto Protection also offers roadside assistance and rental car reimbursement, but you would have to go through your contract to check for coverage limits. Extra benefits are not included in every plan.
AA Auto Protection Cost
You won't get a free quote instantly when you reach out to AA Auto Protection. Instead, you would have to wait until you received an email from them. The questions posed by their sales reps are quick and simple, and you won't run into any issues filling them out on your own.
In our research, we have seen plan costs ranging between $2,800 and $4,299, which are somewhat more expensive than costs at other extended auto warranty companies. That being said, your total contract price is a result of different factors:
- Coverage: Comprehensive coverage that covers most of the vehicle will be more expensive than a basic warranty policy plan
- Deductible: The lower the deductible, the more expensive the coverage cost will be
- Vehicle: Higher-mileage or older vehicles break down more often, which increases the price of their coverage
- Parts: Some brand parts are more expensive than others and have a higher repair cost, which increases the extended auto warranty cost

Conclusion
AA Auto Protection claims to provide five different coverage levels that break down into 39 plans, giving you the flexibility to choose which parts you want to be covered. Their reputation in the industry and among customers, however, is rather poor.
If you do consider their coverage, make sure to read their contract and clearly understand all the terms before signing. Also, before making a final decision, do your research and compare the offerings of other car warranty companies.
