Lexington Law: Credit Repair Services Amid Legal Scrutiny
Is Lexigton Law still operating?

Updated: July 18, 2024

Disclaimer:  In 2019, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) filed a lawsuit against Lexington Law and CreditRepair.com, alleging that they engaged in illegal conduct, including deceptive marketing practices. This lawsuit was part of a broader crackdown on credit repair organizations. In 2023, as part of the PGX Holdings bankruptcy case, Lexington Law settled with the CFPB.

The settlement required Lexington Law to cease certain illegal practices and provide redress and other relief to affected consumers. The company announced they have voluntarily filed
for Chapter 11 reorganization under the United States Bankruptcy Code on June 4, 2023.

It’s very important for potential clients to be aware of this legal history when considering their services. While they seem to be still operating for their current customers, their website does not work when writing this review, so we are unsure whether they accept new customers.

Additionally, in our research, we discovered that they have three different profiles on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) but no longer possess ratings, customer reviews, or accreditation.

If you want to learn more about Lexington Law’s services and offerings before the lawsuit, read our review to learn more. However, if you want to find other providers in the credit repair industry, visit our informative website and read our reviews.

About Lexington Law

Lexington Law is one of the top options you’ll get when you research credit repair companies. They have become the industry's most significant credit repair company by removing more than 56 million negative items and sending out over 221 million disputes on behalf of their clients since they were founded.

They have been in the industry for over two decades; the BBB has rated them with a D-.

How Does Lexington Law Work?

The process is simple; you can start the first step online. All you have to do is go to their website and select “Start online.” Once you select that, you will be directed to an online form where they will ask you to fill out general information about yourself. After that, they will direct you to choose your best plan.

Lexington Law will offer you the following:

  • Free Credit Score
  • Free Credit Report Summary
  • Free Credit Repair Recommendations

Their services work in four steps:

Obtain a credit report analysis: The first step is to check your credit score and what’s affecting it; you can either call them or fill out an online form with your personal information to receive a credit report analysis.

Dispute your credit: The report will highlight your inaccurate negatives on your report, and they will dispute it on your behalf.

Follow-up on disputes: Some negative items require additional correspondence, so they monitor those negative items till they are resolved.

Monitor your progress: The app and online portal will offer you 24/7 access to your credit score analysis and continue offering solutions until you reach your credit goal.
