T-Mobile Is Sharing Your Data, Here’s How to Block It!

T-Mobile has quietly added two new privacy settings to your account, and both are turned on automatically. These settings allow the company to share your personal and financial data with third parties, and most people don’t even know it’s happening.
The first setting is called “Fraud and identity theft protection.” T-Mobile says it uses this to spot signs of fraud, like sudden changes to your contact info or unusual call activity. That information can be shared with other companies, such as your bank, to help catch suspicious behavior. While that might sound useful, there’s little detail on who actually gets your data or how it’s protected.
The second toggle is “Sharing certain financial information,” and it’s even more concerning. With this setting on, T-Mobile can share details about your finances, including credit info, with affiliates, marketers, and others. It’s a broad permission that feels more about profit than protection.
Even if you’ve adjusted your privacy settings before, you’ll want to check again. These new toggles were added quietly and apply to each phone line, not just your main account.
Here’s how to turn them off:
- Open the T-Life app
- Go to the Manage tab and tap the gear icon
- Scroll to Privacy & Policies, then tap Privacy Dashboard
- Find the toggles and switch them off for each line
T-Mobile says these changes are meant to improve your experience and security. But with past data breaches still fresh in people’s minds, many customers are questioning whether more data sharing is really the answer.
