Dove Launches First-Ever Perfume Inspired by Beauty Bar

Dove Original Fragrance, the brand’s first-ever fine fragrance, dropped online on October 27, 2026, and sold out shortly after. Anyone who heads to Dove’s fragrance site now gets a sold-out notice and a gentle nudge back toward the bar soap, with no word yet on a restock.

The eau de parfum was created with fragrance developer Ann Gottlieb, and the packaging is pure nostalgia. The 50 ml glass bottle copies the soft, curved oval of the Beauty Bar and is crowned with a sculptural gold Dove bird cap. The price is a sweet detail, too: $19.57, a nod to 1957, the year the Beauty Bar first hit U.S. shelves.

Demand for the perfume built up for years before Dove ever announced it. Fans flooded the brand’s comments, posts, and DMs asking for the scent in a spray, and Dove framed the launch as a thank-you to that community. In the official Unilever announcement, Dana Paolucci, head of engagement marketing for Dove U.S., called the bar’s scent “one of the most recognizable in beauty.”

Dove opened a waitlist on October 22, then launched sales on October 27 at 12 PM ET (9 AM PT), exclusively on dovefragrance.com. Shipping was U.S.-only (including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico), and shoppers were capped at 2 bottles each. Over on Fragrantica, commenters described sitting in checkout queues for several minutes, only to get kicked back to a sold-out message. Plenty of them are already lobbying Dove to make it permanent.

Early reviews confirmed that the fragrance stays true to the soap bar scent. Who What Wear senior beauty editor Jamie Chevron tested it side by side with the bar and couldn’t tell the two apart with her eyes closed. She describes a bright, aldehydic opening that melts into a creamy, powdery dry-down, with staying power that surprised her for something so light and fresh.

If you have sensitive skin, there’s one difference from the bar worth knowing. The perfume is alcohol-based, and its ingredient list includes common fragrance allergens like linalool, coumarin, citronellol, and geraniol. Dove’s product page also warns against applying it to broken or irritated skin, so if you normally stick to the fragrance-free Sensitive Beauty Bar, a patch test on your inner wrist is a smart first step.

Missed the drop? Dove only sold it through its own site, so any bottle you spot elsewhere is a resale. Before paying a markup, check the seller’s ratings and return policy, and keep the $19.57 original price in mind, since a hyped, sold-out launch is exactly the kind of product counterfeiters love to copy.

Given how fast those bottles vanished, a second drop wouldn’t be a total shock, but Dove hasn’t hinted at one yet.
