Stripe has two terminals that allow you to accept payments in person. For this option, you will need to pay for the terminal itself (the physical card reader) as well as processing fees for each transaction which we will go over in the next section.

Stripe flat-rate fees

Stripe's pay-as-you-go payment processing platform is based on flat-rate, transaction-based fees. Overall, you’ll pay 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction to accept card payments online and 2.7% plus 5 cents to accept in-person payments with Stripe. Below is a more detailed description of such payments:

  • Cards and digital wallets
    • Online (Debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Alipay, Click to Pay, and WeChat Pay) - 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction.
    • In-person (Payments through any Stripe terminal) - 2.7% plus 5 cents per transaction.
  • Bank transactions
    • Check - $5 per check received.
    • ACH credit - $1 per ACH credit payment.
    • ACH direct debit - 0.8% per transaction (maximum ACH fee of $5).
    • Wire transfer - $8 per wire payment.

Additional fees

In addition to all the flat-rate fees above, card, digital wallet, and bank transactions may be subject to the following fees:

  • 1% for international cards.

  • 1% for currency conversion on international cards.

  • $4 for failed ACH direct debit transactions.

  • $15 per returned check.

Fees for additional products

As we have mentioned before, Stripe is not merely a payment processing platform; Stripe offers multiple tools and products that you can use with its payment platform for extra features. Of course, every additional tool comes with additional fees. The fees with these products are as follows:

  • Starter: 0.5% on recurring charges.

  • Scale: 0.8% on recurring charges plus implementation fee for the NetSuite Connector.

Stripe Invoicing

  • Starter: 25 free invoices per month with 0.4% per invoice after that.

  • Plus: 0.5% per paid invoice.

Stripe Connect

  • Standard: At no additional cost.

  • Express: $2 per monthly active account + 0.25% plus 25 cents per every payout sent.

  • Custom: $2 per monthly active account + 0.25% plus 25 cents per every payout sent.

Stripe Radar

  • Radar’s machine learning: 5 cents per screened transaction (not for accounts with standard 2.9% + 30 cents pricing).

  • Radar for fraud detection: 7 cents per screened transaction (or 2 cents for accounts with standard 2.9% + 30 cents pricing).

  • Chargeback Protection: 0.4% per transaction fee.

Stripe Sigma

  • For 0 to 500 charges per month: A $10 infrastructure fee plus 2 cents per charge.

  • For 501 to 1,000 charges per month: A $25 infrastructure fee plus 1.8 cents per charge.

  • For 1,001 to 5,000 charges per month: A $50 infrastructure fee plus 1.6 cents per charge.

Stripe Atlas

  • One-time setup fee: $500.

  • Ongoing fees: Depend on each business.

Stripe Issuing

  • Card creation: $3 for every physical card.
  • Card transactions: The first $500,000 in card transactions are included. You pay 0.2% plus 20 cents per transaction after that.
  • International payments: 1% plus 30 cents for cross-border transactions (of course, with an additional 1% fee if currency conversion is required in the transaction).
  • Disputes: $15 per lost dispute.

Premium support

Stripe's premium support plan starts at $1,800 per month.
