ChatGPT Wrapped? OpenAI Launches a Year in Review Recap

OpenAI is borrowing a page from Spotify’s playbook. The company has started rolling out a new annual review feature for ChatGPT called “Your Year with ChatGPT,” offering users a personalized look back at how they interacted with the chatbot over the past year. Think of it as Spotify Wrapped, but for prompts, conversations, and late-night problem-solving sessions.

What Is Included in Your Year with ChatGPT Recap
1. The Opening Poem
Right at the start, the recap presents a short, AI-generated poem that captures the essence of your year. It reflects themes the AI identified in your chats rather than specific conversations. This adds a creative, personal touch before jumping into the hard data.
2. Top Conversation Themes
The recap highlights the most frequent themes or topics you discussed throughout the year. These are general groupings (for example, coding, travel, novel research, creative projects) rather than specific questions you asked.
3. Your Key Usage Statistics
A core part of the recap is personal usage metrics, including:
- Total messages you sent to ChatGPT over the year.
- Total number of chats you had.
- Your busiest day of the year, the date you interacted the most.
- Specific counts for certain stylistic elements, like how many em dashes appeared in your chats.
4. Chat Style Description
ChatGPT analyzes the way you communicate and gives you a description of your writing style. This is not a formal personality profile, but a fun summary of how you like to ask questions, express yourself, or organize your thoughts.
Examples include styles like: enthusiastic, direct, analytical, casual, or curious.
5. Your Archetype
One of the most talked about parts of the summary is your archetype. Based on patterns in your questions and conversations, ChatGPT assigns a label that reflects your overall use.
Common archetypes might include roles like:
- Strategist: Uses ChatGPT to plan, analyze options, and think through decisions before taking action
- Tinkerer: Experiments through trial and error, using ChatGPT to test ideas, tweak approaches, and learn by doing
- Producer: Relies on ChatGPT to create finished outputs, such as writing, summaries, code, or structured deliverables
- Navigator: Uses ChatGPT to explore unfamiliar topics, ask guiding questions, and find direction through complex information
6. Custom Awards
In addition to your archetype, you get at least one playful award tailored to your usage. These are creative badges that connote habits or frequent uses.
Examples include:
- “Creative Debugger” for problem-solving
- “Instant Pot Prodigy” for lifestyle or cooking guidance
- Other playful badges are linked to your interests or patterns
7. AI-Generated Pixel Art
ChatGPT creates pixel-style artwork inspired by your most talked-about themes. It selects symbolic icons or abstract visuals that reflect the general spirit of your year.
8. Interactive Predictions for Next Year
Toward the end of the experience, ChatGPT offers a playful prediction or fortune for 2026. Think of this more like a thoughtful prompt or inspirational message rather than a real forecast.
You can even reload the prediction to get a new version each time.
How to Get Your Year with ChatGPT Recap
If you want to see your personalized summary:
- Open the ChatGPT app or web interface
- Ensure chat history and memory are enabled
- Tap the recap banner or type “Show me my year with ChatGPT”
- Enjoy the interactive flow
Who Can Access Your Year with ChatGPT
There are a few notable limitations. Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts do not have access to “Your Year with ChatGPT.” OpenAI has not gone into detail, but privacy and data retention policies are likely the main reasons. Users can view the recap on the ChatGPT web app and mobile apps for iOS and Android. It does not currently appear in the native macOS app.
The feature is now available to eligible users in select English-speaking markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. OpenAI says the rollout will expand gradually.
