Stellantis Recalls 955,000 Vehicles Over Rearview Camera Issue

Stellantis is recalling about 955,000 vehicles worldwide after identifying a software problem that can prevent the rearview camera image from appearing when drivers shift into reverse. Around 848,000 of the affected vehicles are in the United States, with another 107,000 located in Canada, Mexico, and other markets.
The recall affects select 2026 and 2027 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles. Stellantis says the problem stems from radio software rather than the camera hardware itself, allowing the company to address the defect through a software update instead of replacing physical components.

Why Is Stellantis Recalling These Vehicles?
The problem can occur when a driver shifts the vehicle into reverse. Faulty radio software may prevent the rearview camera feed from appearing correctly on the center display, leaving the driver without the view behind the vehicle that would normally appear on screen.
A missing camera image can make it harder to see pedestrians, objects, or other vehicles while backing up. Rearview cameras have been required on new light-duty vehicles in the U.S. since 2018 under federal safety rules designed to reduce backover crashes. Stellantis said they are not aware of any crashes or injuries connected to the software problem.
Which Models Are Affected?
The recall covers certain 2026 and 2027 model-year vehicles across four Stellantis brands. Affected models include:
- Chrysler Pacifica
- Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid
- Chrysler Voyager
- Dodge Charger
- Jeep Cherokee
- Jeep Compass
- Jeep Gladiator
- Jeep Grand Cherokee
- Jeep Grand Wagoneer
- Jeep Wrangler
- Ram 1500
- Ram 2500
- Ram ProMaster
How Will Stellantis Fix the Problem?
The automaker plans to correct the defect with an over-the-air software update. Owners will receive a notification on their vehicle's media screen when the update becomes available. This means many affected drivers should be able to install the fix without having hardware replaced. Because the problem is software-related, Stellantis has not instructed owners to stop driving the affected vehicles.
What Should Owners Do?
Drivers who own one of the listed Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram models should check whether their specific vehicle is included in the recall. Owners can check whether their vehicle is affected by entering their VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup tool.
Until the software update is installed, Stellantis advises drivers to rely on their rearview and side mirrors if the backup-camera image fails to appear.
