Think of it as Wrapped, but for your entire life on the platform.

The streaming giant is giving users something more nostalgic than Wrapped has ever been.

Spotify is marking two decades of streaming with a gift that goes far beyond its annual Wrapped rollout. The platform launched "Spotify 20: Your Party of the Year(s)" on Tuesday, a new in-app experience that lets users look back at their full listening history since the day they first signed up.

What the Feature Actually Shows You

Once opened, the experience reveals the exact date you joined Spotify, the total number of individual songs you've listened to since then, the first song you ever streamed, and your all-time most-streamed artist. It's the kind of data Spotify has always had but never handed over to users in this format before.

On top of that, every user gets a custom "All-Time Top Songs" playlist featuring their 120 most-played tracks, complete with play counts. That last detail is notable, since Spotify doesn't typically show you how many times you've played a specific song.

Each section comes with a shareable card so you can post your results across social media. The format mirrors what made Wrapped a cultural moment every December, but the scope here is much larger.

How It's Different From Wrapped

Spotify product manager Axel Ulfson drew a clear line between the two features during a press preview ahead of the launch. Wrapped, he said, "reflects a single year in culture and listening," while Party of the Year(s) captures "the full listener journey from the moment they joined Spotify." It's a subtle but meaningful distinction. Wrapped is a snapshot. This is the whole album.

Marc Hazan, Spotify's SVP of Marketing and Partnerships, echoed that framing in comments to Business Insider: "This was an opportunity for us to give back and make people connect with their time on Spotify. We help soundtrack people's lives."

Hazan also explained the philosophy behind keeping the campaign user-focused rather than self-congratulatory. The team "didn't want to make it about us," he said, opting not to "pop the champagne and pat each other on the back" over the milestone. The disco ball, chosen as the campaign's main visual, was their way of making it feel celebratory without centering the company.
The campaign reportedly took about six months to put together, drawing in many of the same teams behind Wrapped, including product, marketing, music, and communications.

How to Access Spotify’s Party of the Year(s)

The feature is available to both premium and free users. To find it, open the Spotify mobile app and search "Spotify 20" or "Party of the Year(s)." You can also visit spotify.com/20 on a mobile browser to get started. Just make sure you're running at least version 9.1.46 of the app.

Spotify's editorial team also curated a set of playlists to accompany the launch, including First Person Pop, Ladies First, and 20 Years of Latin Hits.

Spotify's All-Time Records, Revealed

The anniversary has also given Spotify an excuse to pull back the curtain on its biggest numbers ever. For the first time, the platform revealed its all-time most-streamed artists, songs, albums, podcasts, and audiobooks.

  • Most Streamed Artist: Taylor Swift
  • Most Streamed Album: Bad Bunny — Un Verano Sin Ti
  • Most Streamed Song: The Weeknd — "Blinding Lights"
  • Most Streamed Podcast: The Joe Rogan Experience
  • Most Streamed Audiobook (Premium): Sarah J. Maas — A Court of Thorns and Roses

None of those picks will shock longtime Spotify users, but seeing them confirmed and official adds a certain weight to numbers that have long been speculated about.

The Formula Behind Spotify's Campaigns

Spotify's Wrapped has become one of the most effective organic marketing campaigns in the music industry, generating billions of social media impressions every year with almost no paid push. The "badge" effect Hazan described, where fans post their top artists and songs as a way to signal identity, is real. He said: "If you're a Lady Gaga fan or a Swiftie, you want to show the world or show your friends that that's who you are."

Party of the Year(s) is built on the same logic, just with more personal stakes. Knowing the exact song you played on your first day on Spotify, or how many thousands of songs you've cycled through over a decade, hits differently than a year-end recap.

As for what comes next, Hazan was open about the fact that there's no concrete plan for the 25th anniversary yet. His best guess? "It will be about the fans, the fandom, the musicians, and the creators, much like this."

For now, you can find your Party of the Year(s) in the Spotify app or at spotify.com/20 on mobile.
