NBC Announces ‘The Voice: Celebrity,’ Set to Air in 2027
NBC is giving its long-running singing competition a major shake-up. On August 4, the network confirmed it has started production on "The Voice: Celebrity," a first-of-its-kind spinoff that trades undiscovered singers for famous faces, all vying to become the franchise's first celebrity champion.
The new edition will feature actors, musicians, influencers, athletes, comedians, and reality TV personalities stepping up to the iconic red chairs, though NBC has not yet revealed which stars will be competing. Those names are expected to be announced closer to the premiere.

A New Host Takes the Chair
Perhaps the biggest twist is behind the podium rather than in it. Keke Palmer will step in as host, taking over from Carson Daly, who has fronted "The Voice" since it premiered in 2011. Daly isn't leaving the franchise altogether, though. He'll shift into a producer role on "Celebrity" while continuing to host the flagship show's milestone 30th season this fall.
The Emmy winner is no stranger to NBC hosting gigs, having already helmed the network's game show "Password." Her resume also includes acting, producing, music, and a stint as a New York Times bestselling author.
Coaching Panel Blends New & Familiar Faces
Joining Palmer on the coaching side are Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green. Jonas will make his "Voice" coaching debut on this spinoff, having previously coached on "The Voice: Australia." Latifah and Green, meanwhile, will be reprising their roles fresh off coaching stints on Season 30 of the traditional series, which premieres September 21 alongside returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine.
What Makes This Edition Different
Beyond the celebrity contestants, NBC says "The Voice: Celebrity" will introduce several new format elements designed to give viewers deeper access to the competitors. According to Variety, those additions include a "Voice Boot Camp" segment following celebrities as they prepare for their blind auditions, a "VIP Room" where artists watch each other perform, and a "Workroom" where contestants strategize and rehearse ahead of the battle rounds.
NBC describes the goal as giving audiences "unprecedented access" to the celebrity artists as they step outside their comfort zones throughout the season.

"The Voice: Celebrity" is being produced through a partnership involving MGM Alternative, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, along with Warner Horizon Unscripted Television. The show is currently in production and is slated to premiere on NBC sometime in 2027, with a spring window mentioned by some outlets tracking the announcement.
The spinoff arrives as "The Voice" approaches its 30th season, a milestone for a franchise that has run for 15 years and remains one of network television's most consistent ratings performers. Rather than resting on that longevity, NBC appears intent on keeping the format fresh, following last season's "Battle of Champions" twist with an even bigger swing for 2027.
For now, fans will have to wait for casting announcements to find out exactly which celebrities will be trading their day jobs for a shot at the "Voice" title.
