Chrome OS differs mainly from Windows in regards to applications. Chromebooks can run all android applications, antivirus software included, and applications specifically designed for Chrome OS. On the other hand, Windows has a more extensive software availability because it is a full-powered operating system. As a result, many powerful software have high running requirements that only Windows or MacBook can provide.

One of the main differences you will spot when using Chrome OS is the copy and paste mechanics. Below find the methods on how to copy and paste on a Chromebook.

How to Copy and Paste on a Chromebook

1. Using keyboard combinations
 


The first method you are probably familiar with, using keyboard shortcuts. Similarly to Windows:

  1. Highlight the text you want to copy
  2. Press CTRL + C on your keyboard to copy
  3. Move and click on your cursor to where you want to paste
  4. Press CTRL + V to paste

The CTRL + V shortcut will paste whatever text you copied with the same origin formatting. To paste only the text with no formatting, you need to use the following shortcut:

  • CTRL + SHIFT + V

2. Using the trackpad

  1. Highlight the text you want to copy
  2. Place the cursor over the highlighted text
  3. Tap on your trackpad with two fingers
  4. Select Copy
  5. Move your cursor to where you want to paste the text
  6. Tap with two fingers on your trackpad
  7. Select Paste

In some cases, you also find the option to paste without any formatting.

3. Using the mouse

  1. Highlight the text you want to copy
  2. Using your mouse, right-click on the highlighted text
  3. Select Copy
  4. Move and click on your cursor where you want to paste your text
  5. Right-click on your mouse
  6. Select Paste

How to Open the Clipboard

You can access your clipboard, which is a list of your last copied items. On Windows 10, you can access your clipboard by pressing the Windows + V buttons together. On Chrome OS, you can do so by clicking the Search + V buttons together, and you will get the last five copied texts.

When the magic menu appears, move your cursor to where you want to paste your text, then simply click on the text you want to paste.
