Compare between Allstate and other vendors

Allstate does not state any specific pricing for any of their VSCs. Their pricing is quote-based if bought directly from them, and dealers that offer Allstate plans may determine their own pricing based on the vehicles they offer and the extent of the added coverage. That being said, you may be able to save up to 50% if you buy directly from Allstate through their website.

An Allstate vehicle service contract (VSC) allows you to go to any certified repair shop for repairs, or you may go to the dealer. They do specify that for all completed repairs, the repair facility must offer a warranty on parts and labor for a minimum of 12 months or 12,000 miles from the date of service. If you don’t know where to take your vehicle, call them so they can refer you to a qualified repair shop nearby.

To file a claim, you or the repair shop manager can call 1-877-204-2242, and the Allstate team will guide you through the process. They will coordinate with the facility with regards to repair eligibility and parts usage and will take care of almost everything except the deductible and the costs of uncovered services. On some occasions, you may have to pay the repair bill and be reimbursed later, such as if the facility started the work before getting payment authorization from Allstate first.

Allstate wants to make it easy to cancel your coverage if it no longer works for you, and they will refund you the remaining amount pro-rated. You would need to contact them at 1-877-204-2242 or submit a written request to them by mail, as shown on your contract. You may be provided with an official form to request cancellation. At the moment, they don’t seem to have an online method to do so.

If you’re buying a new or pre-owned vehicle at a dealer, they might be the best place to get an Allstate plan. They will be able to guide you through your coverage choices, from basic powertrain protection all the way to exclusionary bumper-to-bumper coverage. If you’re buying a used car, they will know what coverage is possible based on its age and mileage, leaving you to only worry about whether it fits your budget. If you prefer to do the negotiations yourself, however, buying directly from Allstate might save you some money.
