Zelda’s 40th Anniversary Switch 2 Design Just Got Leaked

The leaked images appear to show retail packaging for both products rather than clear, standalone shots of the console and controller. Brazilian journalist and Universo Nintendo editor-in-chief Felipe “Necro” Lima shared images of the designs on X after previously claiming that he had seen the special-edition products in person. After the images began circulating, Lima said the packaging matched what he had previously seen and reportedly confirmed their authenticity when questioned by a follower.

Based on the leaked packaging, Nintendo appears to be leaning heavily into the franchise’s familiar colors and symbols. The Switch 2 reportedly comes with black and dark green Joy-Con 2 controllers decorated with Triforce details. Its dock uses a black-and-gold color scheme with another prominent Triforce design.

The leak also lines up with rumors that have circulated for months. Earlier reports suggested that a Zelda-themed Switch 2 was in development, along with a special Pro Controller featuring green and gold accents and a Triforce emblem. The packaging now circulating online closely matches those previous descriptions, lending more credibility to the reports.

The timing has also fueled speculation about a possible connection to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, which is expected to arrive on Switch 2 in November 2026. While the anniversary branding suggests a broader celebration of the franchise, the remake could provide Nintendo with a natural window to introduce the console and controller.

Nintendo has yet to confirm either product or share details about pricing, availability, preorders, or whether the Pro Controller will be sold separately. Until an official announcement arrives, the leaked packaging remains the strongest indication so far that a Zelda-themed Switch 2 could be coming later this year.
