Airbnb update their app to include new services and experiences!

Published: May 15th, 2025.

What if booking a home was just the beginning of your trip, not the whole story? Seventeen years after disrupting the travel industry, Airbnb is making its most ambitious move yet — evolving from a home-sharing platform into a full-service travel companion. Starting today, you can use Airbnb to book chefs, personal trainers, spa treatments, and even one-of-a-kind experiences hosted by celebrities or local legends — all through an app that’s been rebuilt from the ground up.

Airbnb’s newly launched Services feature is a direct nod to the amenities travelers usually associate with hotels — but this time, it’s happening right inside your Airbnb (or even your own home). Available in 260 cities to start, Airbnb Services offers 10 categories that cover everything from in-home massages to custom meals from Michelin-trained chefs.

Want a blowout before dinner in Barcelona? A guided yoga session in your Lisbon rental? Or just a hot, catered meal after a long day of sightseeing in Tokyo? All that can be arranged with just a few taps in the Airbnb app.

Each provider is vetted — many with over a decade of experience — and services range in price to fit nearly any budget. Some offerings start at under $50, and you don’t need to stay at an Airbnb to book. In other words, your travel doesn’t need to start or end with a flight.

Also getting a major upgrade is Airbnb Experiences, a feature that lets travelers dive into a city's culture through locally hosted activities. The company has redesigned this offering from the ground up, and it's now available in over 650 cities worldwide.

These aren’t your typical sightseeing tours. Instead, you might take a ramen-making class from a chef in Tokyo, explore ancient ruins with an archaeologist in Peru, or attend a styling session with a fashion expert in New York. Hosts are carefully selected based on their expertise, guest feedback, and their connection to the community. The goal is to provide something memorable — and genuinely local.

Later this year, Airbnb will also launch new social features so you can see who else is joining your experience, message the group, and stay connected afterward. Whether solo or traveling with friends, it’s a way to make meaningful connections.

To make this possible, Airbnb has rebuilt its app from the ground up. The new version combines homes, services, and experiences into one browsable platform. A redesigned Explore tab helps you discover what’s available in your destination, while the new Trips tab acts as a real-time itinerary, organizing your reservations, check-in info, and activities into a clean, scrollable timeline.

Travelers can now move between browsing, booking, and planning much more intuitively. The new design also features animated icons, a simplified interface, and personalized recommendations that update based on group size, destination, and interests.

Airbnb has also added tools for hosts to make managing listings, services, and experiences easier, including a daily-view calendar, real-time scheduling, and a refreshed reservations dashboard.

Whether planning a getaway or looking to bring a little vacation energy into your everyday life, Airbnb's latest update aims to meet you there. With the ability to book homes, hire a private chef, and join a local tour — all in one app — the platform redefines what it means to travel well.
