Instagram Will Finally Let Users Rearrange Their Profile Grid

Instagram is giving users more control over their profiles with a new feature that lets them rearrange posts directly in the profile grid. Meta confirmed the rollout on Monday, June 8, with the feature reaching users around the world the same day.
The update arrives nearly a year after Instagram head Adam Mosseri first announced it was coming. He announced the feature on Threads back in January, though signs of it had surfaced much earlier. Developer Alessandro Paluzzi, spotted an "edit grid" option inside Instagram as far back as 2022. The company appears to have shelved the idea at the time, choosing instead to rebuild the grid around larger, vertically aligned thumbnails, a change that launched in January 2025.
Getting started takes only a few taps. Here's how it works:
- Open your profile and tap and hold any post on your grid
- Select "Reorder grid" from the menu that appears
- Drag your posts into whatever arrangement you prefer
- Your changes save automatically and show up for anyone who visits your profile
Meta framed the update as a way for users to shape their profiles around what matters to them at any given moment. In a press release, the company suggested the tool could prove useful for highlighting a new era, resurfacing older posts, refreshing an aesthetic, or putting key projects and work front and center.
Content creators stand to benefit in particular. Meta noted that the feature makes it easier to group related posts together, such as tutorials, multi-part stories, transformations, or numbered series, so that audiences can follow along more easily. Older content can also find what the company calls a second life, giving newer followers a chance to see posts they may have missed and offering fresh context for material that might otherwise stay buried.
