French Broad Chocolates Recalls Bonbons Over Undeclared Walnuts

French Broad Chocolates PBC has recalled its Bette’s Bake Sale Bonbon Collection after discovering the products may contain undeclared walnuts. The recall was published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as part of its safety alerts.
The recall affects 6-piece, 12-piece, and 24-piece boxes with batch numbers 260414 and 260417. This creates a risk for people with tree nut allergies, where even small exposure can trigger serious reactions.
The products were sold between April 14 and April 20, 2026, at retail stores in Asheville, North Carolina, and through online orders shipped across several U.S. states and Washington, D.C.

Affected Products
- 6-piece box (2.5 oz), batch 260414 or 260417
- 12-piece box (5 oz), batch 260414 or 260417
- 24-piece box (10 oz), batch 260414 or 260417
Best-by dates include June 22, June 29, and June 30, 2026.
What Caused the Recall
The issue came from a labeling error inside the packaging.
A tasting guide included in the box mistakenly swapped two flavors:
- Walnut Fudge, which contains walnuts
- Peach Cobbler, which does not
This could lead someone to eat a walnut-containing piece without realizing it.
What Consumers Should Do
No illnesses have been reported.
Consumers with a walnut allergy should not eat the affected products.

French Broad Chocolates is offering full refunds for recalled items.
French Broad Chocolates has had a prior recall linked to allergen labeling. In 2023, they recalled select chocolate products due to undeclared milk in items expected to be dairy-free. Like the current recall, the issue was tied to labeling rather than contamination or manufacturing defects.
Both cases involve undeclared allergens, which can pose serious risks for people with food sensitivities. While no widespread illnesses were reported, repeated labeling errors tend to draw closer attention from regulators and consumers.
