Ford Brings Karaoke Fun to EVs: Sing in Your F-150 Lightning
Published: September 22nd, 2025.
Ford Motor Company is taking a page from Tesla’s playbook by adding a karaoke feature to their lineup of electric vehicles (EVs). Owners of select Ford models, starting with the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck, will soon be able to engage in karaoke sessions right from their vehicle’s infotainment screen, making downtime while charging or parked a lot more entertaining.
What’s happening?
Ford announced that their popular all-electric F-150 Lightning will be the first model to receive the Stingray Karaoke app via a software update. The feature allows drivers and passengers to sing along to their favorite songs while parked, driving, or even while the vehicle is charging. The in-vehicle screen displays lyrics when the vehicle is parked, while passengers can still enjoy karaoke while in motion using a smartphone app that syncs with the vehicle.
This feature marks the first time Ford has introduced karaoke to their vehicles. Following the F-150 Lightning, the Mustang Mach-E will be the next model to get the feature, with other Ford and Lincoln vehicles, including the 2025 Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Navigator, set to follow.
“Creating joy inside the vehicle by delivering amazing experiences is a huge part of our team’s job at Ford. Now, for the first time, karaoke will be available to Ford owners,” the company said in a statement.
Stingray Karaoke brings a wide range of music genres and songs, covering everything from rock, country, and pop to R&B, Latin, K-pop, and J-pop. With songs available in 38 languages, the app is designed to offer a global experience.
The karaoke feature doesn’t require new hardware; it will be added via a software update for eligible vehicles in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Drivers and passengers can search for songs by title, artist, or genre and create personalized playlists.
For safety, karaoke can only be activated while driving if a front passenger is seated and buckled in. A QR code will appear on the in-vehicle screen, allowing passengers to scan it with their smartphone and control the playlist and lyrics without distracting the driver.
F-150 Lightning owners with the SYNC 4A infotainment system, including the Lightning, Platinum, and Flash models, are eligible for the update. Owners can check their eligibility and receive the update by visiting Ford’s official website.
Why it matters
While karaoke isn’t likely a deciding factor for most EV buyers, the feature underscores Ford’s growing focus on enhancing the in-car experience through software updates. As competition in the EV market intensifies, companies seek new ways to engage customers and make time spent in vehicles more enjoyable.
Tesla launched a karaoke feature in 2019, making it a popular selling point, particularly in Asian markets. Ford’s addition of karaoke could help the company compete in the entertainment-driven vehicle market.
Ford continues to emphasize their software-driven future, and this fun new feature aligns with Ford's broader strategy of providing experiences beyond just driving. The company is positioning themselves as a leader in the EV space, using features like karaoke to stand out while working on more affordable models like the Mustang Mach-E and future Lincoln EVs.
