The app uses edited screenshots from the original Baldur’s Gate 3, complete with a poorly done mobile interface overlay, to make it look “legitimate.” However, it lacks key details that fans of the game would expect, such as any mention of the game’s Dungeons & Dragons roots or Larian Studios itself. Instead, it lists an unfamiliar developer, “Dmytro Turuk,” which should immediately raise suspicions.

Although the app is free to download, users are asked to pay $29.99 for a 30-day subscription to “unlock” the game once they open it. At this point, many users would likely realize something is off. Unfortunately, just downloading the app could already compromise your personal data. The terms of service reveal that the app collects information such as IP addresses, making the risk more serious than just losing money.

This situation has sparked frustration, as Apple’s App Store is generally known for its strict review process. The fact that a blatantly fake app managed to slip through has left many questioning how effective those safeguards really are. Although Google’s Play Store, widely used on Samsung phones, is often linked to hosting less reputable apps, this particular scam has not yet been reported there. For fans, this is a disappointing reminder that scammers are quick to exploit the popularity of major games like Baldur’s Gate 3.

While some fans have hoped for a mobile version, Larian Studios has made no announcements about developing one. For now, streaming services like Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offer a safe and legitimate way to play the game on mobile devices, as long as you have a stable internet connection.
