• Beberoad Love New Moon Travel Bassinets: These are being recalled because they do not comply with federal safety regulations for infant sleep products. The bassinets lack a stand, creating a significant fall risk if placed on elevated surfaces. The recall affects units manufactured on or after June 23, 2022
• Papablic Archie Infant Swings: These swings have been recalled due to a suffocation risk. Their incline angle exceeds 10 degrees, which violates federal safety regulations for infant sleep products. Additionally, the remote control included with the swing contains a button-cell battery, raising further safety concerns under Reese’s Law
• LED Light-up Jelly Ring Toys by Attom Tech: These toys have been recalled for violating the federal regulation governing battery-operated toys. The button-cell batteries in the rings are easily accessible and pose a severe ingestion hazard, potentially leading to internal injuries or death
• RH Baby & Child Jeune French Contemporary Upholstered Panel Cribs: These cribs are being recalled due to a choking hazard. Cylindrical metal inserts in the crib’s wooden frame can become loose and detached, creating a dangerous situation for young children
• Brompton T-Line Foldable Bicycles: These bicycles have been recalled because insufficient torquing of the steerer clamp bolts can cause the handlebar to lose alignment with the front wheel, leading to a potential fall hazard
• Avocado Organic Cotton Mattress Pad Protectors: These mattress pads fail to meet mandatory federal flammability regulations, posing a fire hazard. The recall affects approximately 55,480 units sold between January 2019 and March 2024

"They may be entitled to a refund, repair, or replacement for the recalled item," she said. "Usually, guidelines are issued with the recall for returning or disposing of the recalled item, like taking it back to the place of purchase, mailing it to the manufacturer, or disposing of it safely.

"Parents should also document to the CPSC if their child was injured by the product," Roofe said. "If the item is required, such as a crib or a car seat, then a replacement that is safe must be found."

Preventive measures and awareness

Roofe recommends that parents and caregivers research the safety features, reviews, and ratings of products before purchasing to prevent accidents and injuries. She also suggests looking for safety certifications, such as those from the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association, and adhering to age and weight recommendations for car seats, cribs, and toys.

Consumers should also be cautious with used or second-hand products, as they may not comply with current safety standards. Registering new products with the manufacturer is crucial to receiving timely recall and safety information.
