2025 Emmy Nominations: Who’s Leading & Who Got Snubbed?

The 2025 Emmy nominations have arrived, showcasing a dynamic mix of returning favorites and exciting newcomers. Leading the pack with 27 nominations is Severance, a mind-bending Apple TV+ series, followed by The Penguin on HBO Max, which scored 24 nominations. HBO’s The White Lotus and Apple’s The Studio each received 23 nominations, making them strong contenders this year. New shows like The Pitt also made a big splash, while Netflix’s Adolescence earned 13 nominations, marking its arrival as a serious Emmy player. Nate Bargatze is set to host the ceremony on September 14, bringing his comedic touch to the evening.

Drama Series
The Drama Series category is packed with both genre fare and social commentaries. Severance, The White Lotus, The Last of Us, Paradise, and Andor are among the nominees for Outstanding Drama Series. Other shows like The Diplomat, Slow Horses, and The Pitt round out the list. In Lead Actor, familiar names like Adam Scott (Severance) and Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) face off against Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) and newcomer Noah Wyle (The Pitt), who is nominated for his first Emmy in over two decades. The Lead Actress race is just as competitive, with Keri Russell (The Diplomat) and Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us) up against Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters) and Kathy Bates (reviving Matlock).
In Supporting Actor, The White Lotus actors Jason Isaacs, Walton Goggins, and Sam Rockwell are joined by Parker Posey (The Pitt) and Will Poulter (Severance). The White Lotus dominates in Supporting Actress, with Carrie Coon, Natasha Rothwell, and Jennifer Coolidge among the nominees.
Comedy Series
The Comedy Series nominees include Abbott Elementary, The Bear, The Studio, and What We Do in the Shadows. The Studio, which has garnered 23 nominations, is a standout, tying an Emmy record for the most nominations by a comedy series. In Lead Actor, Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) is up against Seth Rogen (The Studio), Jason Segel (Shrinking), and Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This). The Lead Actress category features returning favorites like Jean Smart (Hacks) and Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), alongside newcomers Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This) and Ayo Edebiri (The Bear).
The Supporting Actor category is loaded with talent, with Harrison Ford (Shrinking) earning his first-ever nomination, while Ike Barinholtz (The Studio) and Bowen Yang (SNL) also make appearances. In Supporting Actress, Hannah Einbinder (Hacks), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary) are in contention.
Limited Series
This year’s Limited Series race features Adolescence, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, The Penguin, and Black Mirror. Monsters garnered 11 nominations, while Adolescence earned 13, making it one of Netflix’s strongest contenders. In Lead Actor, Jake Gyllenhaal (Presumed Innocent) and Stephen Graham (Adolescence) face off against Cooper Koch (Monsters) and Brian Tyree Henry (Dope Thief). For Lead Actress, Michelle Williams (Dying for Sex) and Cate Blanchett (Disclaimer) are among the nominees.
Reality & Variety
The Reality Competition Program category sees Survivor return to the race, alongside RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Amazing Race, and Top Chef. Jeff Probst (Survivor) is nominated for Outstanding Reality Host, making his first appearance in over a decade. In the Talk Series, perennial nominees Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Daily Show compete with Stephen Colbert for the trophy. Variety Scripted Series will be a showdown between Last Week Tonight and SNL.
Veterans Snubbed, Newcomers Celebrated
This year’s nominations reflect a shift toward fresh content, with newer shows like The Pitt and The Studio emerging as heavyweights. Veteran series like The Handmaid’s Tale and Squid Game were notably snubbed.
