Summary

Omega Auto Care is a valued Florida-based company that offers vehicle service contracts (VSCs). Since 2017, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) has given them an A+ grade and accreditation. Their goal is to ensure that all of their customers have a smooth and effortless experience by having a website that is easy to use and provides great service.

A huge plus to Omega Auto Care's warranty is that they offer maintenance perks. While they don't offer many coverage options, their customer satisfaction is high, thanks to their excellent service and convenient maintenance plans. However, some customers have been upset about the time it takes to handle claims and get paid back. There have also been stories of cases being turned down because of small print in the warranty agreement that didn't cover the situation. Many customers have also been worried about the policy limits and fees' clarity.

CarShield vs. Omega Auto Care

Omega Auto Care and CarShield are vehicle service contract (VSC) providers who specialize in extending your car’s coverage where your factory warranty leaves off. While CarShield enjoys a higher profile in the extended auto warranty market, they both offer similar coverage options with high mileage limits, but only CarShield explicitly does not sell in California. We will help you decide which one is right for you with the following comparison.

Both companies act as brokers for VSC administrators, who provide contracts and handle repair claims. Omega mostly uses EGV Companies, Inc. while CarShield primarily works with American Auto Shield, which seems to be the more reputable and transparent company between the two based on our research.

Plans at both companies have similar tiers of coverage. Omega has three main plans, although their most basic plan comes with two upgrade options. Two of their plans are inclusionary and state all covered components, and the other is an exclusionary “bumper-to-bumper” plan like your manufacturer’s warranty. CarShield has four inclusionary plans and one exclusionary plan, but they also have specialized plans for electric vehicles, motorcycles, and ATVs, and one that offers non-warranty coverage perks only. Please note that CarShield does not cover hybrid parts in their online sample contracts, whereas Omega does.

Both companies may allow ‘business’ or ‘commercial’ use of your vehicle for an added surcharge, but CarShield allows for more uses than Omega, such as ridesharing and agricultural purposes. Purchasing an Omega plan also gives you one year of maintenance coverage for oil changes, brake pad and battery replacements, and other services. Both offer sample contracts online that you can read through for coverage details, pressure-free.

Neither company provides plan pricing online, so you must contact them for specialized quotes. With CarShield, you may opt for a monthly plan or a term contract, which you would pay off in installments. You can only purchase Omega plans for specific term periods. Monthly costs can fall within the same range of $100 to $130 for both companies, although CarShield may reduce costs to align with your budget. On the other hand, premiums for both may also be higher, depending on many factors.

Omega Home & Auto Care is accredited by the BBB, while CarShield is not and is currently suing the BBB over alleged bias. However, CarShield has a lot more customer feedback and responds to complaints promptly and more pleasantly than Omega, often resolving the issues. They have similarly high review scores on Trustpilot, with many customers praising their claims processes, extent of coverage, and pleasant customer service. Conversely, negative reviews for both cover coverage denials, not having full claims costs honored, and difficulties with refunds. A few complaints associate Omega with solicitors that use high-pressure tactics, but the company denies those assertions.

If you’re seeking to extend your car warranty, both companies provide full-featured services that get high customer ratings. CarShield has a higher profile and may offer more in terms of optional packages and vehicle types. Omega Auto Care, however, has similar coverage options and some unique perks that you may find more enticing. Perhaps one of these providers can meet your specific needs and budget.
